did you know… babies diapered in cotton are potty-trained much sooner - on average, at 30 months of age... potty-trained children avoid diaper rash and diaper-related infections… early potty training helps parents save money and timeon diapering, and have more flexibility when searching for daycare and preschools…
and, some interesting tidbits… until the mid-1900s, the average age of starting toilet training was still under one year, at 11 months, and the vast majority of babies finished toilet training by 2 years, and achieved nighttime dryness by 3 years… since then, the age for toilet training has increased dramatically… in 2002, the average age that parents recognized their child “showing an interest in using the potty” was 24–25 months, and daytime dryness was achieved on average at almost 3 years of age… nighttime accidents are now considered normal until 5 or 6 years of age… a 2000 WSJ article reported that, “children now wear diapers until they are 36 to 42 months old, some 6 months longer than they did 16 years ago.”… boys tend to train later than girls… 48% of boys were not trained until after 3 years old compared to 30% of girls… 4% of the children were potty-trained by 2 years… 22% by 2.5 years… 60% by 3 years… 88% by 3.5 years of age… 2% were not trained at 4 years old...
no matter when or how you train, a child will be less competent than an adult... most fully-trained children aren’t ready to go to the bathroom unattended until 36 months or later... there is more than one method to potty-train children… it is not necessary to choose a single method—in fact, your child will benefit from a combination of verbal, physical, social, and other forms of training no matter what their age.
